Frequently Asked Questions

Lambs are dry hung in a cool room for approximately 10 days before cutting up. It is approximately 48 hours from when the lamb is prepared, vacuum packed  and boxed until it is ready for you to pick up. The lamb is never frozen. Vacuum packing ensures it is in the best condition when it is handed to you.

There are a range of differences between Organic and Biodynamic. 

But to summarise the core difference is:

-Organic is focused on what CANNOT be applied to soil, crops, orchards or animals disallowing synthetic/fabricated chemicals. Organic allows for a designated parcel of land or crop to be certified “Organic”

-Biodynamic® is farm focused and requires that the whole farm be certified.

Under federal government legislation there is a hierarchy – bio-dynamic is above organic.  By this; all bio-dynamic produce meets and exceeds organic certification.

Biodynamic views the farm as a whole entity encompassing everything such as soil, living organisms and water. In practice it means on a Biodynamic farm only a certain percentage of feed can be imported, that diversity of insects & plants removes the need for pesticides and that stock rotation and grazing techniques remove the need for fertilisers and drenches.

On Moorlands the Bio-dynamic preps are used to enhance the biodiversity of the soil eco-system.  Its a soil up system aimed at producing nutrient dense clean produce of the highest standard.  Feel free to chat with Vince for more detail.

Yes. When you order please select Cash payment when you pick up your order. Then prior to picking up your order transfer the money in to the account and bring proof that the payment was made when you pick up the order.

No. Orders must be picked up from the nominated locations.

Yes. Renowned Providore Feather and Bone stock our meat.  It isn’t always available but check with them.  Their head office is in Marrickville.

It is vital that you be at the pickup location on time. If for any reason you think you will be delayed please contact Vince directly and some arrangements might be able to be made.

Periodically there are group visits to Moorlands. It is a pleasure to share the wonderful location with others. However it is very dependent on seasons and farm activity. Typically an email will be sent to all our customers to let you know if there is one being organised.

We accept cash when you pick up your order, direct funds transfer and payment by most popular credit cards.

No. You can purchase Moorlands Lamb without creating an account. That said, it is handy to have an account particularly if you re-order the same order each time.

Yes. When we set up at the markets (not at Pymble) we bring a certain amount of separate cuts to market with us. But get in early because it does tend to sell out fast.

No. We only sell lamb. Sometimes we will have pumpkins, rosemary or other garden veg, but at the moment you cannot buy that as such.

The calendar is key. Every visit that is planned to the ACT or to Sydney will appear on the calendar.

If your local pickup location is say Carriageworks Markets then you will see on the calendar an entry for Carriageworks markets. Importantly you will also see Last Orders cutoff date.

Simply place your order before the cutoff date and select Carriageworks Market as your pickup locations.
